Oceanographer was an oceanographic research vessel built for the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey and launched in 1964 as USC&GS Oceanographer. In 1970, after the combination of U.S. state agencies, the ship was renamed NOAAS Oceanographer. She was decommissioned and sold in 1996. She was renamed MV Protector and became a breakwater in Kirkland, Washington. In 2005 she was sold again and the process of rebuilding her into a cruise ship began. In 2016 the rebuilding was halted and the ship was for sale.
